Ronan’s Trust: “Being Busy Together”

Ronan’s Trust is a new Gloucestershire charity that supports bereaved families, providing nurture and support through gardening and being creative togeth- er. We provide opportunities for bereaved families to work together on the land, on allot- ments and through seasonal gardening and craft events.

Ronan’s Trust is for anyonewho has suf- fered a close family bereavement - the loss of a partner, sibling, child or parent.

We have a calendar of events on offer

throughout the year as well as local allotment groups to join. Our Autumn programme offers a pumpkin carving festival, craft activities, making a hazel windbreak, tree planting and Christmas wreathmaking.

The tree planting will take place near Cirencester in late autumn and the Wreath making and Christmas Decorations Workshops will be at the Bothy in Cirencester.

We also provide practical support for those who have been immediately bereaved and need help in their gardens - mowing lawns, weeding, hedge cutting.

Ronan’s Trust is able to use the Churn Project allotment and we have others across the county. We provide the seeds, tools and initial support for local bereaved families to work together on the allotment. Each allotment has one or two volunteer allotment co-ordinators who keep an overall eye on the allotment and offer support for those who are new to gardening.

We hold “allotment days” throughout the year to give tips and ideas for the garden and what to do next.

We also offer practical support in your own garden in the first year following a close family bereavement through our team of volunteers.

Please let people know about our work.

If you would be interested in becoming a member or volunteer-

ing with us please get in touch for further details.
