Extra Portions Himalaya - Moraira

I was taken to Himalaya on a first date through the mighty Tinder by an Argentinian guy (who NB whilst mightily cute managed to justify the reputation both Tinder and Argentinian men have by our second date.) I’d asked him to choose a restaurant close to my home so as he drove me the 25 minutes that it takes from my house to Moraira I was a tad grumpy. But a little bird (a prettier one I guess) must have told him the good news.
Himalaya serve the best Indian and Nepalese food I have ever tasted in Spain. Although I didn’t pay of course, I could see the prices, and I can tell you it was a bargain of a date for the Argy.
The head chef Dili is Nepalese, and has 20 years of cheffing experience all around the world under his belt and apron. And you can tell.
We were a little bamboozled by the extensive menu so we asked for help from the waiter, and were given a taster menu,
which introduced us to new dishes and also gave us some classics. The whole team at the restaurant are Nepalese, and know their onions, pun intended. In the spirit of a first date, the Argy and I marked each offering out of ten, and each got ten points from both of us.
They have dedicated Tandoor chefs and ovens, and offer many options for vegetarians, vegans and those who like gluten free – even in beer! And yes they serve lovely cold Cobra beer.
The décor inside is pretty traditional, and pleasant. There is seating outside (booking recommended) and a great children’s park within earshot or eyeshot.
A hugely popular option is the 17.50€ deal for dining which gives you three courses with a seriously generous amount of food. Takeaways are available with a rather cool ten percent discount, and the team also offer catering for events and have done so with resounding success. Have a chat with them. Not only is their restaurant very lovely, friendly, fair priced and professional, but the owners are too.
