From Panama to Paris, waterways from around the globe will meet in Inverness in September 2016 as the prestigious World Canals Conference returns to Scotland after more than a decade. Hosted in Inverness, the


gateway to the majestic Caledonian Canal, the conference will showcase the many attractions of the nation’s 137-mile canal network, from the incredible Kelpies, the largest equine sculptures on the planet, and the Falkirk Wheel – the world’s only rotating boat lift – to the ongoing regeneration of North Glasgow along the course of the Forth & Clyde Canal. Over 300 business leaders and


global professionals from more than a dozen countries will attend the four-day conference from 19 to 22 September, hearing from keynote speakers such as Dr Jonathan Chambers, Team Leader in Geophysical Tomography at the British Geographical Survey; Roland Lewis, President and CEO of the New York Waterfront Alliance; and Daniel Fabrega, Panama’s Ambassador to the United Kingdom.
