Beehive Brae gets Aldi buzzing


One of the UK’s fastest growing, sustainable craft beers has been snapped up by leading supermarket chain Aldi as part of a major summer promotional drive. Beehive Brae Honey


Beer will appear across the major multiple’s 67 stores throughout Scotland, bringing this full-bodied, artisan blonde to the attention of craft beer lovers. As the label suggests,


every bottle of Beehive Brae Honey Beer is brewed for the ‘betterment of bees’, with parent company Plan Bee driving the growing movement to protect and preserve Britain’s dwindling honeybee populations. The promotion is the


culmination of a two-year journey for Plan Bee, which established its craft brewery following a successful crowdfunding project in 2014. The honey beer and its stablemate Beehive Brae Mead were created thanks to the digital investment venture with the leading Crowdcube site. Plan Bee has been recognised as an example of the impact that crowdfunding can have on your business. The company calls itself


an eco-innovator, meaning it finds many diverse products to manufacture from the many elements sourced within Plan Bee’s 250 sustainably managed beehives, located from Aberdeen to Cornwall.

iageo employees from across Scotland and Ireland have joined forces to bring pedal


power to rural communities in Africa by donating hundreds of used bicycles. More than 450 bikes were


collected over the past six months and packed into a shipping container at Diageo’s Shieldhall packaging plant in Glasgow for their 5,400 mile


journey to Ghana in West Africa. Diageo staff from Guinness


Ghana Limited will then distribute the bikes to the communities of Koblimahigu and Kakpayili where they will help improve mobility and connectivity for hundreds of people. Diageo has already made a big impact in these areas through its Water of Life programme which brought safe drinking water to the communities. Te shipping container used to


transport the bicycles will remain in Koblimahigu to be transformed into a Bicycle Empowerment Centre with locals being trained in bicycle maintenance to create a self-sustaining business for the community. Te project has been run in


partnership with the charity Bicycles For Humanity and was inspired by two Diageo staff members in Scotland, Diane Tomson and Jennifer O’Keefe.


Glasgow’s Primestaff joins the Warrior Nation


Glasgow Warriors have announced a new addition to the Scotstoun family for next season, with recruitment specialists Primestaff joining as an official partner of the club. Warriors stars Alex Dunbar and Rory Clegg, along with Scottish Rugby Commercial Operations Manager Al Kellock, joined Primestaff Chief Executive Danny McIntyre at the company’s new


30 staff, has become the fastest growing recruitment consultancy in the country and sees the Warriors as the perfect fit.
