development and infrastructure consultancies. Established in 1965, the practice has 17 offices around the UK with nearly 800 staff, including engineers, planners, scientists, and economists. Te firm has a spread of technical skills which allows it to support clients throughout the lifecycle of major infrastructure and development projects. In Glasgow, this
includes comprehensive engineering services for
the Collegelands student housing development; engineering and flood risk services for the Ronald McDonald House at Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Campus, preparing the studies for the redevelopment of West Dunbartonshire’s Exxon site as part of Glasgow and Clyde Valley City Deal funding, and draſting the strategic transport and travel plan for the University of Glasgow. “We work with public
and private sector clients to maximise commercial value and community benefit,’’ said partner,
Dougie McDonald. “As we continue to
grow, we wanted to find new ways to engage with the local business community. So, joining the Chamber was the next obvious step. We look forward to meeting more of our colleagues across the built environment sector to discuss ways in which we can underpin viable regional growth as the city and surrounding region prospers from investments.” PBA’s Glasgow team,
based on West George Street, comprises 29 staff, specialising in planning and engineering.
W
hile the fight against cancer
goes on around the globe, a new Chamber member sees the benefit of joining and networking with Glasgow businesses. Worldwide Cancer
Research is a charity which funds research into any type of cancer anywhere in the world, funding some of the most diverse and unexpected projects in the world’s best institutions. “We currently have
169 active projects in 22 different countries in 119 institutions globally. We believe the answers will
not come from one scientist, in one lab, in one country. Our vision is to see no life cut short by cancer,” said Lucy Keen, the charity’s Communications Manager. Many Glasgow
businesses, like the charity, are based in Scotland but have a global mind set. She added: “We are
delighted to be new members and cannot wait to work with businesses and members across Glasgow to raise awareness about our international cancer research projects.”
