Trains
Glasgow is well connected by rail links to the rest of Scotland and the UK, by the west coast mainline and regular, high quality local services from Scotrail from Glasgow Central Station and Glasgow Queen Street Station, both positioned in the heart of the city. Te city’s already excellent rail infrastructure is currently geting a significant upgrade, in the shape of a major redevelopment of Scotland’s third largest station, Glasgow Queen Street. Announced in 2014 and
schedule for completion by June 2019, the station redevelopment will be part of the £742 million ($1.08 billion) Edinburgh Glasgow Improvement Programme (EGIP). Te station redevelopment project is being managed by Network Rail, financed by Transport Scotland, and monitored by ScotRail Alliance. Te station currently handles approximately 20 million
passengers a year, and this is estimated to grow to 28 million by 2030. Te city’s popular and efficient
Subway system, which carries 13 million passengers each year, is also geting its largest upgrade in 30 years. With new carriages, remodelled stations and infrastructure improvements, the £288 million programme of work is being supported by the Scotish Government and will ensure that
the highest quality of service is delivered to the 40,000 who use the Subway every day.
Automobiles
Te city’s fleet of black cabs provide a reliable and great-value way to get around the city quickly, while the arrival and rapid growth of Uber gives tech-savvy travellers an atractive alternative. Many car
rental options are also available, both within the city centre and from the airport. With the M8 running through the heart of the city, Glasgow is easy to navigate by car. Glasgow is also well served
by several bus networks, primarily First Bus and SPT. Safe, reliable and cost-effective, the city’s comprehensive bus coverage will take the environmentally-conscious business traveller wherever they need to go. Whatever your business,
