Reaching new heights of digital understanding
The Chamber’s eBusiness Club exceeded expectations by helping 56 Nottinghamshire firms climb the digital business ladder. Between 1 February and 28 April, in partnership with
Nottingham County Council, it helped deliver the Nottinghamshire Digital Business Growth Project (NDBGP). The project aimed to help firms
step up a level in their adoption and understanding of the today’s digital technologies. The NDBGP was designed to help

Chamber’s eBusiness Club employed a tried-and-tested mechanism of providing a one-to-many approach of seminar and workshop delivery, alongside dedicated trainer and adviser support on a one-to-one basis. comprehensive range of digital technologies. “There is little doubt that the model of using experienced practitioners to deliver the workshops and ongoing support was a critical factor in the success of the project,” said Jon Egley, eBusiness Club Manager. Diane Simpson, the Chamber’s
Deputy Chief Executive, said: “The project was designed to enable
small and medium-sized enterprises to develop their digital knowledge in a range of technology areas, primarily focused on exploiting high speed broadband to facilitate online marketing, ecommerce, cloud computing and website development. “The project was very well received and supported a
series of popular, well-attended workshops and seminars and has provided ongoing support to a sizeable number of growing businesses.”
eBusiness apprentice becomes employee
The eBusiness Club’s Emmie Bramley (pictured) has passed her Level 3 Business Administration apprenticeship and is now a fully- fledged Chamber employee. Emmie, 20, chose the
apprenticeship route rather than university because she preferred the option of earn-and-learn over pay-to-learn. She also wanted the experience
of working and was aware that she could take the Level 3 qualification and work experience into university if she wanted to go back into academia. As an apprentice, Emmie

had been involved in all aspects of the eBusiness Club, from collating data to processing funding applications and claims, sending out eshots and helping to plan events. Emmie joined the Chamber
straight from Sixth Form at Tupton Hall School. She said: “I was looking at the
different options available and wanted to get some work experience. The opportunity to work for the Chamber as an apprentice came at just the right time. I’m happy to be a permanent Chamber employee and believe there is plenty
of scope for career progression.” eBusiness Club Manager Jon
Egley said: “There is a clear link between business success and the uptake of digital technology in the workplace. “In order for Emmie to be an
effective member of the team she had to develop skills in a broad range of business administration disciplines, including data recording and analysis, social media management and cloud- based services. “We’re delighted Emmie has
graduated from apprentice to employee. She’s a real asset to the eBusiness Club and the Chamber.”
