PATRONS Fusion leads to growth

Managed service provider GCI has acquired communications solutions specialist Fusion Media Networks for an undisclosed sum. The move forms part of GCI’s accelerated growth strategy. Adrian Thirkill, Chief Executive Officer at GCI, which has its head office in

Lincoln, said: “Fusion is a forward-looking organisation and a great fit for GCI. “We have been keeping a quiet eye on its progress over the past couple

of years - ever since it was nominated as the ‘Emerging Channel Company of the Year’ in 2014. “This is a good day for GCI, for Fusion Media and, most importantly, for

Fusion’s customers which, as part of the GCI family, will now benefit from our scale, our comprehensive managed services portfolio and our ongoing multi-million pound investment in innovative technologies and best-in-class monitoring and management systems.” Wayne Martin, GCI’s founder and Chairman, said: “As I look back on GCI’s

journey, it’s nice to reflect on the many fine organisations that are now woven into our DNA. “They build scale, add new and contemporary services, bring a

formidable depth of technical experience and, piece-by-piece, they are transforming GCI into something really quite special.” Lee Norvall, Chief Executive Officer at Essex-based Fusion Media, said: “Building Fusion has been my total focus over the past few years. The fact that it is now part of the hugely-respected GCI Group feels right.” Adrian added: “There is now a palpable energy building across GCI and a

common objective. Our growth will not just come from acquisitions, but from the joined-up effort of staff, good management and clear direction.”

Three in a row for Heart of the Campus

Nottingham Trent University scooped a third building accolade in as many weeks for its ambitious Heart of the Campus development. The university won a Royal

Institute of British Architects (RIBA) East Midlands Award for the project in recognition of its architectural excellence. The multi-million pound project

at the university’s Clifton Campus created a state-of-the-art teaching and learning environment. Constructed by Chamber member GF Tomlinson, it includes two new buildings with landscaped outdoor spaces. The RIBA award followed a Royal

Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) East Midlands Regeneration Award and a bronze award for GF Tomlinson and Nottingham Trent University at the Considerate Constructors Scheme Awards.
