King crab safari in the summer


SUMMER IN THE NORTH 2 days/1 night Enjoy an exciting king crab safari combined with an overnight stay in the Snowhotel’s wooden Gamme Cabins. Transfer in the morning from the airport or from Hurtigruten quay to the traditional Gamme Cabins. Leave at around noon for a king crab safari by RIB boat at the best fishing areas in the Barents Sea. Here you will pull up huge cages with magnificent king crabs inside. Your own catch will be served for a late lunch! In the evening, you are invited for a three-course dinner and a short guided evening walk in the area. Overnight stay in your cosy Gamme Cabin with panoramic views of the fjord before breakfast and transfer to the airport or quay the next morning.

Winter king crab safari


WINTER KING CRAB SAFARI This excursion offers a unique winter experience beginning with a snowmobile-drawn sleigh ride from a traditional fisherman’s home to a frozen fjord. Through a hole in the ice, you will set about trying to catch a king crab. These incredible crus- taceans can span two metres and weigh up to 15 kilos. Your catch of the day will be prepared and cooked for you when you return to the fisherman’s house – a rewarding meal at the end of a fabulous excursion.

Husky taxi


TRANSFER WITH A HUSKY TAXI In the snow-covered landscape of Norway, dog sledging has always been considered an efficient form of transport. It is perhaps no surprise then, that a “dog taxi” transfer service has been launched to collect passengers from Kirkenes air- port, one of the country’s northernmost airports. The 45-minute trek takes a scenic route across the local countryside from the airport to Kirkenes Snowhotel.


NOTE: Good physical condition and, travel insurance required. This transfer is subject to weather conditions.

In Kirkenes, transfers are included if you have booked our arrival and departure package. If your booking does not include any transfers, you are still able to pre-book some of the transfers, book when on board or pay the bus driver.


Free Airport Transfer for Platinum guests All our Platinum guests who are starting/ ending their roundtrip in Kirkenes, have a bus transfer from the airport to Hurtigruten Terminal or your Thon/Scandic hotel in Kirkenes (or in reverse order) included.
