The Miami-Dade County Youth Fair & Exposition is gearing up for
World of Agriculture and the return of many Youth Fair agricultural classics. Cowtown is back in 2016 to offer guests one-of-a kind experi- ences where they can observe and learn the process of making butter, ice cream, cheese and soap directly from professional farmers. Guests can also learn how to milk a cow through interactive demonstrations. This year’s additions at Cowtown include traditional broom making and cus- tom leather craft demonstrations. Another exciting feature this year is the 65th Year Anniversary-themed
giant butter sculpture, hand crafted by professional competitive sculp- tors, using real butter. Guests are invited to watch the process as it unfolds, live, during limited dates of The Youth Fair. Back by popular demand in the World of Agricul- ture is the Ranch Sorting, an equestrian sport that resembles the traditional ranch activity of separat- ing cattle into pens using a rider and horse. Mod- ern day Ranch Sorting involves two teams of two riders on horseback fighting against the clock while sorting the cattle. This year, the Ranch Sort- ing will be
extended and take place throughout a two day period due to its immense success last year. Also returning to the Youth Fair
is Horse Soccer, also referred to as Equi-Soccer, where both rider and horse work together to control a custom-made soccer ball using their combined agility using only the horse’s front feet. The sport recent- ly
its this year is the LEGO® Construction Contest. Children will be able to show off their building talents and use their imagination to create an original LEGO® construction creation using their own LEGO® bricks. The goal of this competition is to bring the concept of Science, Technol- ogy, Engineering, and Mathematics (S.T.E.M.) to life! Also part of this year’s exhibits, a poster contest will take place for
children grades 2-5, asking, “How do you celebrate an important event?” allowing them to illustrate their understanding of the phrase “Let’s Cele- brate!” The Youth Fair, now in its 65th year, is ranked the largest fair in Flori-
da and one of the top 27 largest fairs throughout North America. It at- tracts well over 600,000 guests of all ages every year. This is a family experience packed with adrenaline-pumping rides, fun games, mouth- watering food stands, live outdoor concerts, sensational shows, livestock/ agricultural competitions, and over 53,000 local artistic, academic and agricultural student exhibits. The Youth Fair will again be open for 21 days for the second year in a row.
