Martin County Fair Jay Spicer, Fair Manager
2016 was a Sweet 16 at this year’s fair! Sweet entertainment with Neal McCoy and top new artists LoCash. We went outside the box this year by bringing in a Pro Wrestling Event featur-
ing Mich Foley, Ted Dibiase, The Bushwackers, The Steiner brothers, The Powers of Pian, and More! Outdoor venue with VIP Ringside seat- ing only. Since we were near the beginning of February, we did a Mardi Gras Since we are trying to be Bigger, Bolder, and Better, I re-
parade!
purposed a few buildings. I put in a Science & Technology wing, where we had the Schools’ Science Fair at the Fair, Robotics Club, Lego Ta- bles, and new Mad Scientist Lab with 19 activities scheduled in blocks to take apart, build, fly, and Egg Drop Competition. The Environmental build had more than (60) 15-20 minute talks on a variety of topics from 20 different environmental groups (Forest Service, Bat guy, Oceano- graphic folks, River Coalition, etc.) I set up an area in there with chairs, lights, and a TV for plugging a laptop into for slide shows. Lastly, I made an Enterprise
Zone...an area where we will had local
manufacturing companies displaying their products that get sold all over the world, made right from here in little ‘ol Martin County.
Lake County Fair Updates By Leah Norris Over the past year the Lake County
Fair Board has been working hard to make a few behind the scenes changes for our Fair. We have worked with our County to add 50 feet to our Livestock Barn and a gable on the mid- way end. This addition will bring our Livestock Barn to 16,875 square feet. We are VERY excited about adding at least two 20 ft. Big Ass Fans
to the Barn as well, with lights. It’ll make it much more comfortable for exhibitors, animals and Fair guests if we have another warm year. We have also removed an old arena and bleachers from the back of
the Fairgrounds and look forward to possibly tweaking the layout of our midwa y. We are also gearing up for our 2016 Fair and have Oscar the Robot,
Kachunga Alligator Show, Neal Snyder’s Firefighter Show, Rowdy Rooster, and The Daniel Show as our free stage and strolling acts. We have local favorites, Neon Truckers, opening the first two nights, with Sundown rounding out the last part of the week on our Community Stage.
Our livestock shows are going to be big this year; we’ve got a brand new night
for our
Meat Goat Show & Sale, with a Breeding Goat Show as well! We look forward to seeing everyone soon, and best of luck!
