public meetings held last november. three factors will be taken into

consideration when compiling the final policy – responses to the questionnaire, feedback from the senior management team at Dart Harbour and strategic direction from the Dart Harbour Board. “We will be taking several

principles into consideration when drafting the new policy,” explained Capt Giles. “these will include safe navigation, optimisation of moorings and maintaining and improving the environment. In addition, the cornerstones of openness and accountability will be maintained against the backdrop of our new strategic Plan.” Dart Harbour currently owns and manages 1,640 moorings ranging from deep water to drying out, with the majority in Dartmouth and Kingswear including noss, the Bight and Warfleet. other moorings are located at

totnes, Cornworthy, Bow Creek, stoke Gabriel, Duncannon,

Galmpton, Greenway, Dittisham, Maypool and Parsons Mud. Details of Dart Harbour’s moorings are shown on the DHnA website. In addition the authority licences

the remaining 1,000 private tackle moorings including marina berths. the current Moorings Policy came into force in early 2010 and laid down statutory conditions for both Dart Harbour moorings and for private tackle moorings on the river, setting out Dart Harbour’s approach to its moorings and a range of intentions.

It system over the last few months, Dart Harbour has been upgrading its It system, including the way invoicing is handled. With our new Harbour Assist management system, we have endeavoured to simplify our invoicing with invoices now emailed out to berth holders wherever possible. using our online payment facility is still the quickest and easiest way to pay your invoice.

the system has been developed

to cut down on the amount of time spent on administration, allowing staff instead to be more customer service orientated. In addition, our on the water

payments facility introduced last summer is working well with any initial teething problems all sorted out.

Board Meeting the next board meeting will take place on March 14 at totnes Boating Association from 6pm and as usual there is an opportunity for members of the public to ask questions during the first ten minutes. Dates and venues of future meetings are posted on the Dart Harbour website – www. dartharbour.org - so do take a look and use them as an opportunity to raise any queries.
