place to create room and it bulges- out somewhere else creating another problem, and so it is with parking. this work will take some time but please be assured that work is going-on behind the scenes to be as fair and reasonable as possible to us all.

Outside the station As we all know only too well the work being carried-out on the Royal Dart Hotel (as was!) is causing something of a traffic problem. this was entirely predicted of course and the workmen are doing their best not to be obstructive; however there are inevitable interruptions to normal traffic-flow and to the parking outside the station. on occasions delivery vehicles need to use that temporary parking space for a time – again this cannot be helped. But the whole situation is being made much worse by thoughtless residents or visitors (and it is both) parking for hours at a time in these very limited parking spaces (2) and causing others to be unable to park. the purpose of these parking spaces, with their 20 minute maximum parking time is to enable elderly or infirm residents to access the post office or pick-up less able ferry passengers to take them home. so please do not use these spaces unfairly because if you are there for a long time you will prevent many people from gaining fair access. As things are I have heard of a number of people who have had to take a taxi to access the post office because they were so unsure of parking their cars for a minute or two. It’s down to us, chaps, be fair.

Royal Dart Discoveries Just a little curiosity, for interest. During the extensive workings inside the Victorian Royal Dart building a number of original features have been re-discovered as layers of eighties and sixties cover-ups have been removed. A tiled floor is better than thought

previously, a blocked-up window has been revealed, hitherto unknown, the grace of the original building is being restored to various different areas as the work goes along. this has contributed to changing the mind of the architects slightly as to how best to convert and conserve the building. Good to know, eh! It seems like the old guys knew what they were doing after all.
