Anything & Everything About Dartmouth

T

he By The Dart’s website www.bythedart.co.uk was launched in november

2014. since then, and with little promotional support e.g. use of Google ad words, its traffic has grown steadily with 150,000 visitors from Dartmouth, the south West and the rest of the uK (and abroad) visiting the site. This makes it the most visited ‘unofficial’ Dartmouth website by far and compares well (70%+) of the traffic volume received by the Dartmouth Tourist Information website (www.discoverdartmouth.com).

Having already published so much information about Dartmouth in the pages of this magazine, we’ve had plenty of content to choose from and our constant updating of information on the site is recognised by all search engines and this is steadily pushing the site up the rankings.

A redesign of the site in late 2015 has given it a much cleaner look, made it easier to navigate and ensured it is fully optimised for mobile devices such as smart phones.

By understanding what visitors to the site want and where they go has focused our energies on gathering and updating information in a few key categories e.g. what’s on locally, things to do and a comprehensive directories of local trades, services, shops, restaurants, pubs and accom-

modation etc.

Local life our website still has a wide breadth of information about local life e.g. all the interviews from this magazine in one place, searchable by name – see http:// www.bythedart.co.uk/living-in-dart- mouth/people-index or you can use it to find local ferry information, details about your local councillor or information on local clubs or societies etc - please note, if you run a local club, society or charity/community organisation and we haven’t listed you then please email us with full details (to mark@bythedart.co,.uk). If you a reinterested in local history, you’ll also find an archive of more than 50 articles previously published in this magazine.

What’s On Comprehensive listings of local

events, what’s on at the Flavel, local theatres and the national trust have always been a popular and vital part of By the Dart. As space is always limited in the magazine, we tend to upload all relevant events first to the site and then highlight a selection for publication in the pages of the magazine. In the past year we have uploaded more than 700 local events to the site and there are anything up to 100 current and future events featured at any one time. You’ll find more local events here than on any other website that covers south Devon.
