now. the gloomy weather has been relentless and we are yearning for some sunshine. so what better way to lift the spirits than to bring some inspiring art into your life. all My Dreams unfold here by Yvonne Coomber is


one surefire way to make you smile no matter what the weather. this totnes artist has developed her distinctive style over the past ten years and and has won a legion of admirers. taking her inspiration from the Devon coun- tryside she paints colourful abstracts of wildflowers with such abandon that you feel quite giddy. Definitely a good way to banish those winter blues.

All my Dreams Unfold Here Yvonne Coomber spring is always a busy time for galleries and we at Brown-


ston are no exception. our first major show of the year in March features twelve selected artists from the prestigious south West Academy. Founded in 2000 the Academy has de- livered an outstanding and critically acclaimed programme of exhibitions, lectures and workshops. Its membership includes a number of prominent artists as Academicians and Honorary Academicians such as Peter Blake, alan Cotton, Rose hilton, Ken howard and Michael Morgan.


of The Colour”, a show by five British women artists who all studied with the late, great Robert Oscar Lenkiewicz. each of the women – Lisa stokes, Karen Ciambrello, Yana Trevail, Louise Courtnell and Diane nevitt – has a very different style and all have their own story to tell. During the course of the exhibition Louise Courtnell will be demonstrating Lenkiewicz’s renowned technique for teaching aspiring artists the essential methods of figurative painting, which he called “the tone of the tone, the shape of the shape, the colour of the colour”. Yana trevail will be giving a humorous and enlightening talk about her life with Lenkiewicz, first as a muse, then as his studio assistant and finally as a highly regarded portrait painter in her own right. the five women have never shown together before and it will be interesting to see how they connect on the walls of the gallery – we can’t wait! throughout the south West, artists will be putting the

final touches to their paintings so they can go on show in galleries and exhibitions around the county.
