Microsoft Pushing Customers Towards Windows 10 t


here has been an increasing amount of speculation that Microsoft will try to force users to upgrade to


Windows 10 “by any means necessary”. You cannot have failed to notice the Windows 10 upgrade boxes in the bottom right hand corner of your screen. Windows 10 has always been an upgrade that the user chooses to install or not as the case may be. However, industry


commentators are saying that Windows 10 is no longer an “optional update” and has become a “Recommended” update. the difference is straightforward. As a “Recommended


update”, it will automatically be downloaded along with the rest of the automatic Windows updates unless the user specifies otherwise. so are we at risk of coming home to find Windows 10 has installed on our computers? Microsoft has stated that customers can refuse the Windows 10 upgrade once installation has begun. However according to ZDnet, they have declined to expand with any more

information on how the authorisation process might work and whether Windows 10 will persistently try to install itself once it has been declined. this comes alongside the news that Microsoft has announced that new laptops and desktops using new Intel skylake Processors will only work on Windows 10. In a nutshell, if you want a new computer and you want Windows 7, you have to have a slightly older Intel processor. this isn’t a problem at the moment, but there will inevitably be a time when these new computers are not widely available. If you do install Windows
