I have been asked to include the information below by the parish council group dealing with this significant development which will affect us all. Do please read it carefully.
neighbourhood plan IMPORTanT.
under the current Government there are very clear messages about local people making their own decisions about how and why their home places should change and therefore what development should happen. neighbourhoods are being encouraged to write their own Local Plan drawing on the opinions and the advice of their communities. Kingswear Parish Council has set up a group to start the process. the Kingswear and Hillhead Local Plan will set policies for what we want our area to be like in the years to come. It will identify the type of development we want to see and where it should occur and what benefits it will bring to the community. It will look at all the areas of life that contribute to making a happy village. It can influence aspects of village life eg. housing, health, leisure and the environment. to be successful, the whole community has to contribute to the plan. In the next couple of weeks, (or you may have already received your copy) every household will receive a leaflet explaining the consultation process and how to feed your ideas into the Plan. Please take the time to respond. We are also looking for people to join the working party. If you feel you could contribute or if you feel strongly about some aspect of life
in Kingswear, please volunteer to help.
Look out for the workshops that are due to be held in the near future. In May there will be a presentation at the Annual Parish Meeting where further information will be available.

Defibrillator Information
At the parish council meeting in January edward Jones informed us that the defibrillator which we have been waiting for is more or less ready for use and should be ready by the time you are reading this. the machine is sited down near the post office, just behind the post box in fact. (see riveting picture!)

this is lifesaving equipment which is both accessible to anyone and can be used without any former training or medical knowledge. In the event of an emergency call 999 and they will give you the code to open the box which houses the defibrillator. the installation of the defibrillator has been possible with the kind support of Kingswear Regatta Committee, Dartmouth Holiday Homes, south Hams District Council, Manna From Devon and a host of local supporters. If anyone around the marina has such a need it is worth reminding people that Dart Marina has a defibrillator available just in front of the white marina office near the blue companionway to the berths.
Parking in Kingswear one of the most commonly asked questions of councillors is about the parking problems we endure, especially during the busy summer months. not surprisingly everyone has their own version of what needs to be done, usually depending upon where they happen to live. so we have as many solutions as residents! After huge amounts of debate, some of it informed, the parish council has created a small study-group to work with the highways authorities, the police, the community and anyone else needful in order to thrash-out a reasonable solution to as many of the problems as possible. unless we come up with a scheme that is fair to the whole village there is no ‘quick-fix’ solution. My analogy is that the village is like a polythene bag full of water – squeeze it in one
