Local Dunblane groups celebrated receiving funding from the Braes of Doune Windfarm Community Benefit scheme at the Braeport Centre in Dunblane on Friday 20th November. The Windfarm is owned jointly by Greencoat Capital Wind and a fund managed by Hermes GPE LLP and the scheme is open to all local groups. Applications are assessed by a committee of local residents nominated by the Community Council and Dunblane Development Trust.
Now in it’s 9th year, the scheme has donated to 36 organisations, many on several occasions, and this year a total of 15 groups received a share of £15,356.
The funds supplement the groups’ own fundraising activities and are required for a wide variety of reasons, from a safety cage for gas cylinder storage for the Scouts, replacement defibrillators for the First Responders, expedition equipment for the Duke of Edinburgh scheme participants at Dunblane High School to necessary repairs at community halls such as Braeport and Kinbuck Community Hall. And we have to mention Dunblane in Bloom and The Environment Group, each to be congratulated on the wonderful work the volunteers do every year. Dunblane in Bloom prepare and maintain the planters and beautiful flower beds around the town, including the magnificent Rock Garden on the riverside beside the Faery Bridge. The Environment Group undertake many projects to upgrade and maintain key playparks, parks and paths and were responsible for creating the Memorial Garden which they maintain and add to each year.
