Trustees wanted to help local charity grow

You know the saying, if you want anything done right, do it yourself? Well that only applies for the smallest part in the world of volunteering, where teamwork is just about the most important thing imaginable.

At the Dunblane Centre we run with a small core of paid staff but a great range of volunteers. This includes Board members of the charity which operates the Centre, the Dunblane Youth & Sports Centre Trust (DYSCT).

We’re looking for people to join our Board and give some valuable experience and a little time. Especially valuable would be those with skills or expertise in areas like IT, youth work, HR, fundraising or commerce/fi nance.

Current DYSCT Board

So how’s it work? We’ve currently eight board members (trustees), all from the local community, all with diff erent skills. Trustees attend quarterly formal meetings, ad hoc extra meetings, contribute to regular discussions, and provide professional guidance to our Centre Manager, within their fi eld of knowledge. You should have a real interest in the community, be comfortable reading a balance sheet, contributing to strategic decisions or occasionally rolling your sleeves up and lending a hand at an event!

The role is varied and interesting, as it mixes contributions to direction and strategy with hands- on support. Those with experience of being part of a committee, panel or voluntary sector board would be helpful, but not essential. What’s more important is that you can share our passion for what the Centre is about, bring some of the business, organisational or personal skills outlined, and have a reasonable amount of time to off er.

The Centre occupies a very special place in the heart of the community, and provides great youth, educational, entertainment and leisure facilities for the Dunblane area. If we’re to deliver what people want, and be as eff ective as possible, local volunteer expertise and time is crucial. We need a regular injection of energy, talent and skills to thrive, and recruiting new trustees will help us sustain the Centre’s growth and ensure its future for all to enjoy.

More information about the Centre is online at www.dunblanecentre.co.uk If you’d like to have an informal chat with someone beforehand, then email either Steve Birnie at steve@dunblanecentre.co.uk or Clare Moore clare@dunblanecentre.co.uk to arrange one.

If you think you fi t the bill then please complete the short application form available online at: www.dunblanecentre.co.uk Applications close at the end of January.
