Calgary as the Deerfoot Trail, winds around Red Deer and past the airport, some 48 kilometres from the city center, and drops you off at the river on a road leading directly to downtown and Jasper Avenue. Tis broad street runs east and west, extending through the heart of the city and its business district. At one time Jasper was the shopping district of Edmonton. Today, a great deal of the retail traffic has relocated to the much- touted West Edmonton Mall where you can indulge your shopping addiction for hours. Edmonton is the capital of Alberta.
