S

olas LED supplies domestic and commercial LED lights that are more eco-

friendly and consume 90 per cent less energy than traditional lights. Te Paisley-based company

says that its products provide excellent light quality and have lifetimes of up to 50,000 hours, and that it offers its customers a warranty in order to give them complete peace of mind. Solas LED is based at the

St James Business Centre in Linwood Road on the site of the former Linwood car plant. Current users of its lamps

include Rolls-Royce, Coca Cola,

Mitsubishi, Volvo and Intel. Internationally, Solas LED lights are used in the Hong Kong International Finance Centre, the Hong Kong International Freight Terminal and Roterdam Docks. Te company’s streetlights

were used to create the world’s first LED city, Weifang in Shandong Province in China, in 2006. A further 12 cities have followed, which Solas says are currently saving up to 72 per cent of previous energy costs. It said the LED street lamps

have been in operation for about seven years now, so are globally unique in terms of longevity and performance.

in the city centre, is led by Murray Henderson and Jim Webster, who between them have more than 30 years’ experience in architecture and design. Its work programme includes

the Angel Gardens development in Manchester, which is believed

to be the largest private rented development in the UK outside of London. Te 458-apartment development includes a 34-storey tower and 22,000 square feet of commercial space. Recent HAUS projects in

Glasgow include a hotel-led mixed-use development on Clyde Street in Glasgow’s St Enoch Quarter fronting the River Clyde. Te development includes the 102-bed hotel and retail frontage. HAUS has produced plans for a
