lasgow is a ‘student city’ with higher education as one of its real strengths. Tat was the message from Professor Anton Muscatelli,

Principal and Vice-Chancellor of the University of Glasgow at the Glasgow Talks… Education event in August. Professor Muscatelli, who is one of the UK’s

saying that the University of Glasgow is in the top five for income per member of the academic staff. He said if you add the investments at the

University of Strathclyde and University of Glasgow together, it adds up to several times the value of the City Deal. Place is important too, with our HE market

also working closely with the city to make sure it has appeal to the international market. Te HE sector “shares a vision with the city – that’s what makes us unique”. Paul Litle, founding Principal and CEO of

City of Glasgow College, now home to more than 32,000 students as its new campus nears completion, said that the city’s success was “our international appeal” – with more than 1000 students from the international market at his college alone representing 130 plus nationalities. He said that Glasgow’s status as a student

city was “in our blood” with our city forefathers having leſt us that challenge and vision. He said: “I tell my staff when they are looking out at the city view, to remember people are looking in. We always need to be at our best.” Speaking about his own college, he said:

“Our campus is world class, and a faculty like that atracts the best academics and students. It’s important to put the right learning in the right place, and the buildings are being built to purpose. We put innovation and

entrepreneurship at the heart of our teaching, and have built the campus to help prepare students.” He added that success comes from working
