Less than 3 years ago, I made my first international journey across the world to a land of beauty, the country of Sri Lanka. This past June, I once again found myself travelling for WME to this paradise of sorts.


Sri Lanka is less than 2% Christian, but be- lievers I have met who are part of the less than 2% Christian population in Sri Lanka are certainly on fire for the Lord.


After over 25 years of civil unrest, the past 6 years or so of calmness in the land is foreign to many. But within the serenity, Christians are taking hold and working zealously to win souls for the Kingdom. They are now able to go into portions of the war-torn country that were previ- ously cut off from travel, and they are finally able to preach to those who have been secluded in a bubble of de- spair and loneliness for so many years.


WME has thankfully been a part of this crusade by making water wells avail- able in portions of Sri Lanka where people are still struggling to recover from the lasting effects of civil war. The people of these areas were once rich from ownership of property, but war cost them everything. Those left alive have nothing. With the war over, na- tives have been given very small parcels of land by the government for their fami- lies to live on, but no water is available within a reasonable distance. In some less traveled areas, there are still active land- mines, making them dan- gerous areas to live.
