T CBRE Property consultancy celebrates 50 years in city


Property consultancy CBRE is celebrating 50 years since the first Richard Ellis office (as the firm was known) opened in Glasgow in 1965.


Kicking off the festivities,


CBRE hosted a staff reunion for employees old and new in Glasgow recently. Held in the firm’s most well-


known office in Glasgow, Pacific House on Wellington Street, CBRE ‘alumni’ gathered to catch up and reminisce about the property industry in Scotland over the past 50 years. With two offices in Glasgow, one in Edinburgh and one in Aberdeen, CBRE has a total of 270 staff. When including staff from


CBRE’s sister company Norland, the Group employs more than 500 people in Scotland. A charity raffle was also held,


raising £1100 for the Prince and Princess of Wales Hospice’s Brick by Brick appeal.


CBRE will be holding several


events throughout the year to mark the significant milestone.

Rotary Club, which organises a range of social and community projects for good causes. “Fundraising is a key feature of our work,” said Robin Garside, the club’s President. “For example, we arrange annual charity walks, concerts and bag-packing events.” Te club also has close links with Glasgow schools and runs two annual


public speaking competitions, a primary school quiz and a Young Chef contest. Young Musician, Young Citizen and Young Photographer competitions are on schedule to begin this autumn. In addition, five RotaKids Clubs, which help primary pupils make a difference in their schools and communities, have been created and several others are in the pipeline. The Glasgow office has now expanded and relocated to larger premises and will specialise in helping businesses, individuals, lenders and creditors in times of financial distress. In addition, they will provide tailored services in cloud accounting, taxation, corporate finance and wealth management. The move comes on the back of another


successful year for William Duncan, which has experienced significant growth in fee income – to more than £5 million across the five offices over the past few years.
