Treating referred pain
“In my 33 years treating patients, the cause of the problem is hardly ever where the pain is”. Dr Hans Christian Madsen DC Treat the cause and solve the problem When you look at the neuromuscular skeletal system, it is fascinating to understand how various parts of the body are connected in order for each part to function correctly. In the 1890s, D.D. Palmer founded chiropractic, and in the early 20th century, his son B.J. Palmer helped to increase awareness of this alternative form of care. It is a practice that concentrates on the diagnosis and treatment of mechanical disorders of the musculoskeletal system. Dr Hans Christian Madsen DC, a graduate of the Palmer Institute in Iowa, USA, explains how the initial examination of a patient is so important, to determine the correct area of the body to start treatment. “I am asked so many times, why are you treating me on my hip, when the problem is in my shoulder?”
At his Benijofar Chiropractic Clinic, Dr Madsen says it is so important to address the initial cause of the problem, to understand how treating the source will eventually release the pain from the area where it hurts the most. He treats patients with neck or shoulder pain, pain in the knees or foot problems (for example, Heel Spur), and of course, many patients with lower back pain. He also treats many people suffering with arthritis. Treatment for Osteoarthritis of the joints: He has many years’ experience using Shockwave therapy. Over time, calcification can build up affecting the joints of the body, including the hands and feet. Shockwave therapy removes this calcification which helps to release trapped nerves resulting in more movement and less pain. Patients are then treated with laser therapy, which helps to regenerate new cell growth. Laser Therapy: Dr Madsen has developed his own specific laser systems which can strengthen and heal damaged cells. They produce a penetrating light which supplies energy to the body. The tissues and cells absorb this energy, where it is used to accelerate the normal rate of healing. It brings vital nutrients and fluids to cartilage and discs and increases blood flow to the injured area. The laser light helps to reduce inflammation and swelling, leading to decreased pain, less stiffness and a faster return to normal joint and muscle action. To find out more, please visit:
