The annual SPATEX exhibition returned to its new home of Coventry’s Ricoh Arena in February. Coming just a week after the rival UK Pool & Spa Expo, we report on how the event fared in its second year at the Midlands venue By Jon Wadeson

aking place from Sunday 1 to Tuesday 3 February, this year’s SPATEX exhibition took place just eight days after the country’s other pool and spa show which had itself been a fairly quiet affair. So the talk amongst the exhibitors during the build up to the show was

Those that made the journey to the Ricoh Arena were welcomed by SPATEX flags and additional branding around the stadium and once inside, the show itself offered visitors to the Midlands venue a wide range of products and services from just over one hundred exhibitors, a third of which were new to the show, plus comprehensive workshops provided by the ISPE (Institute of Swimming Pool Engineers), STA (Swimming Teachers’ Association), PWTAG (Pool Water Treatment Advisory Group) and more.

As a venue, the Ricoh Arena seems to have more than proved itself as the perfect new home for SPATEX and exhibitors have responded to the change in location by going the extra mile in providing much better looking and in some cases, simply stunning stands which gave the Jaguar Exhibition Hall the feeling of a complete and professional event. Echoing that observation, Brian Lennox of West Yorkshire based Lennox Leisure said: “I thought it was excellent. It seems that the suppliers and manufacturers have bought into the idea that Coventry is the place to be, and I think that those who stayed away, or went elsewhere, have missed a trick. The Ricoh
