NEWS DaleSauna Keeps Standards High At Aqua Springs

DaleSauna has installed a new steam room and monsoon shower at the Aqua Springs spa at Colchester Leisure World. The project, part of ongoing work by Colchester Borough Council to maintain high standards at the centre, follows the successful installation of a tiled salt inhalation room by DaleSauna in 2011. Selected from three tenders, the company was tasked with replacing the old steam room with a new tiled facility. Measuring just under 5m x 5m, the steam room has a capacity for 22 people. It features a mix of large format porcelain black tiles and mosaics and tiled seating. LED ceiling lighting

complements the scheme, while a LED neon light strip in warm white installed at low level all the way around the room makes a striking addition to the facility.

The new steam room means customers will enjoy a better consistency of temperatures and steam levels during their visit. The combination of high temperatures and 100% humidity in the steam room, complemented by a fragrant essence increases blood circulation, relaxes tense muscles and offers many other therapeutic benefits.

The project also included the installation of a monsoon feature shower and a new bucket shower as part of an upgrade to the shower area. Set within a blue mosaic tiled enclosure, the monsoon shower

Designs For New State- Of-The-Art Sports Centre Unveiled

The designs of a new £10m state-of-the-art sports centre under construction at the prestigious Latymer Upper School, in Hammersmith, West London, have been unveiled. A new six-lane swimming pool with a floating floor, to enable training in faster conditions as well as teaching and community use, is being built alongside the refurbished sports hall. The sports hall will boast a fitness gym and three large multi-purpose studios.

The school has a strong sporting heritage, which was a driving factor in the redevelopment of the school’s sporting offer with a modern state-of-the-art attractive building.

The community was heavily involved throughout the design process and the new pool will be open to local primary school children and swimming clubs once complete. Ian Wilson, partner at FaulknerBrowns Architects, said: “Sport and fitness is at the heart of the school and it’s great to be the firm behind the creation of a new visual landmark which will help raise the profile of the school and its offering. The building is in a very prominent position visible from the A4, so the image was a significant consideration throughout the design process. “Due to the nature of activities that take place in sports buildings, they often comprise large spaces. Special consideration was needed in terms of scale and massing so that the sports centre does not appear out of context in such an urban area.”

offers a variety of water experiences. These range from warm tropical rain to cool water. The shower is ideally used after sauna and steam room use, alternating the temperature of the drench from warm to cold for an exhilarating shower, which improves blood circulation to the skin and creates a sensation of relaxation and wellbeing. “We are always looking at ways to improve the quality of the experience at Aqua Springs. The new steam room and monsoon shower are fantastic additions to the spa. I am sure all our customers will enjoy the new experience and I would like to thank the managers and contractors

at DaleSauna for doing a good job,” said Cllr Annie Feltham, portfolio holder for communities and leisure services.

“Aqua Springs was one of the first local authority spas to open in the UK almost 20 years ago and offers a range of heat experiences, pools and treatment rooms. The council’s continued investment in the spa over the years is an inspiring example of how to keep up to date with industry trends to offer modern spa facilities at affordable prices,” added Dean Edwards, Southern Sales Manager at DaleSauna.
