The mandate of the CCDA is to encourage the future business development of the downtown, to promote the downtown as a destination shopping and service area, and to help facilitate the sustainability of new and existing business in the downtown area. The spirit and determination of the CCDA remains strong, and continues to grow, promote and focus efforts on the downtown business community. Over the course of the last 12 months the dedicated CCDA Board of Directors have worked hard at getting a full compliment of members and restructuring the board into well organized pro active committee’s in the following area’s, Governance, Development, Promotions and the Monarch Theatre. Along with the standing Executive and Finance committee’s the CCDA is moving along rapidly to achieve our goals. The big event to watch for this year in the Downtown core is the CHALK ART FESTIVAL in August The CCDA have secured the services of the famous American chalk artist Lori Escalera, who will be coming in August to not only participate but oversee the whole event. It promises to be a fantastic week end but one that will not be forgotten for a long time. All relevant information will be posted to the CCDA website. And of course the Monarch Theatre continues to grow, is always available for events and private functions. It continuing to show all the latest blockbusters in a relaxing spacious atmosphere.
