The Montgo Restaurant. by Roddy Cunningham

Unfortunately a ‘Menu del Dia’ all too often comes up short. Perhaps the portions are a wee bit smaller, or the quality of the food not quite as good as if you were ordering off the main menu, or the wine is err, shall we say... “not great!”

Great Value yet again at

FF Serving the community since 1993

At the Montgo Restaurant on the Javea to Jesus Pobre road you will always enjoy a great Menu del Dia, both during the day and at night, 6 nights of the week (Thursdays they are closed for a well earned rest.)

For just €11.80 including IVA, their Menu del Dia offers a choice of 10 starters, 8 main dishes (7 more main dishes available for a small supplement) and 6 deserts. And it includes bread, alioli, and half a bottle of wine, or water per person.

The food quality is excellent, and the portions are normal proper sizes. In fact many times I have been too full after my main course to brave a desert, so they will obligingly swap your desert for a coffee if you wish. And all topped off with a free shot of muscatel wine.

Naturally there are à la carte dishes available too, and there is a choice of 8 different types of paella type dishes, which are also highly recommended. In fact many Spanish locals order and take away large paellas in the boot of their car, so that’s an option if you are having a party at home.

To conclude by modifying a famous strapline, “if Carlsberg ran a restaurant, it would probably be the Montgo Restaurant!” It’s true....the Montgo Restaurant offers great food, good wine, and is in a beautiful location being overlooked by the fantastic Montgo mountain, and it never fails to please. That’s why my family and I go back time and time again.

Pictured here are the Montgo restaurant team led by owner Juan who is at the back. For a great Menu del Dia think ‘Restaurant Montgo!’

Reservations are highly recommended call 965 795 020, although they will always try and find you a table in their 3 indoor dining rooms, or on the massive outside terrace. Restaurant Montgo has plenty of parking and is easy to find on the Javea to Jesus Pobre road CV735, just look for the tall orange Montgo sign!
