Careline Theatre: Next production An Inspector Calls, directed by Scott Hamer in his debut production. This play has recently been brought back to life on the professional stage. Welcome to the Stage Diary, a column that since it was first launched in 2007, has become a major central point of reference to amdram on the Costa Blanca. Not only does it act as a guide to what’s on in all the regions, but is also an important on-line introduction to potential expat’s researching community life in Spain. It also acts as a planning guide to assist groups avoid unnecessary clashes of production dates.


Calpe Gilbert and Sullivan Society: Following their two concert performances of The Gondoliers at the end of March, Calpe Gilbert & Sullivan Society are taking a few weeks rest before they start on their next venture.


If anyone is interested in joining this friendly group please contact musical director Aileen Lightfoot on 696 514 613. They meet on Wednesday evenings at the Footlights Centre, Calpe.


Campoverde Theatre Group:


Costa Blanca Male Voice Choir: The main event in April will be the recording of the Choir’s first CD. It is hoped this will be available for the headline concert of the season on the 23rd May in Teulada. Developments


within the choir are now increasing due to our new sponsorship deal with major local communications provider Telitec. www.costablancamalevoicechoir.wikidot.com.


Costa Barber Singers: The CBS won the first Competition of the Choirs event at Teulada and were crowned ‘The Best Choir in the Costa Blanca’. It proved that Barbershop is still alive and kicking! Footlights Theatre Group: Their latest production, Stepping Out will be on tour in April, with performances in Ondara (9th), Alfaz del Pi (10th) and Calpe (14th). Tickets €12 adults, €8 children under 14 available from

Now in rehearsals for their next production, Let Us Entertain You, a variety show full of colour, music and humour. The group meet on Mondays and Wednesdays at the Community Centre, Blue Lagoon at 2pm and welcome new members, especially male singers, soloists and back stage crew. Cantabile Female Voice Choir: On Saturday 18th April, the choir will perform French composer Gabriel Fauré’s exquisite Requiem, at La Siesta Church, Torrevieja. Jávea Players: You will need to be quick off the mark to see Penny Grant’s production of Lilies on the Land at the Javea Players’ Studio Theatre in Javea Old Town. It plays for only five nights, April 6th to10th and some nights are already sold out. It is a play described as being laced with great humour, warmth and love. Curtain-up each evening 8pm. Melody Makers International: Following their successful Music of the Night concerts, the choir is commencing rehearsals for their
