FUN & CHARITY On your bike! RICS President’s charity motorbike and classic car run
Alan Collett, FRICS, Chairman of ARIM and former Chairman
of Allsop, takes office as President of RICS on July 2nd and invites property people with motorbikes or classic cars to join him for a 90 mile trip on Sunday 8th July. This will be from Parliament Square to his home in East Hampshire for tea, with a picnic stop on the way at the Shinfield Grange campus of the College of Estate Management outside Reading.
Alan will ride his 1971 Norton Commando, and his daughter Victoria, also a Chartered Surveyor, will drive his 1979 Aston Martin. Alan says, “I wanted to do something to celebrate my year as President of the RICS, so I decided to raise money to provide a bursary for a candidate at the College of Estate Management in Berkshire, while having some fun with industry colleagues. We all like a good day out and I’m determined this will be a great one – I hope you will join me and help to launch the career of a highly trained chartered surveyor – we need many more!” The day starts at 9.30 at RICS HQ in Parliament Square for bacon sandwiches, kindly sponsored by Allsop LLP. Riders/ drivers may bring their own or pre-order from the caterers. At 2.30 the group continues to the Collett’s home, where tea and cake will be served in Alan’s garden. Entrants may join the party
at Parliament Square or Shinfield Grange, and may follow their own route if they wish. There will be suggested
routes for both legs, each an easy 45 miles, the first from London via Windsor to Shinfield, and the second leg going across country via Odiham and Alton, to East Meon. There is a suggested
