Dreams can come true

fundraising event for the Royal Wedding in 2011, I wanted to continue to raise awareness and funds for this charity whose work began in 1919 as the Ex- Servicemen’s Welfare Society and is today as critical as ever. “I had a dream I was walking from the

1917 battlefi eld of Passchendaele back to Canary Wharf in London, representative of today’s very commercially-focused world and a symbol, perhaps arguably, of our ‘freedom’. As a student of analytical psychology I explored this unconscious material and the personal feat for my next fundraising challenge in the form of ‘Feet to Remember’ was set. “So many men and women have given

their lives throughout history for our freedom, we will and we do remember them all over the world and specifi cally in a ceremony every year at the Cenotaph on Whitehall and every evening at the Menin Gate at the end of the World War 1 front line in Ypres, Belgium, hence my decision to embark on this particular walk. “Of those who do return from Service,

Caroline Copland, Head of Marketing and PR at London estate agent, W A Ellis, is set to embark on a gruelling 125 mile walk from the Cenotaph to the Menin Gate in aid of Combat Stress, a charity specialising

Badger Holdings secures sponsor ‘5 in 1’ charity challenge

Badger Holdings has announced that Conveyancing Data Services (CDS), the conveyancing search provider, is one of the main sponsors for this year’s mammoth ‘fi ve in one’ charity challenge, raising money for The Shooting Star CHASE children’s charity. For the last seven years, Tony

Addinall, Executive Chairman of the Badger Holdings Group, has carried out an annual event which has seen him tested to the limits to raise valuable funds for The Shooting Star CHASE

Children’s Charity. Vowing to make it his eighth and last, Tony is combining some of the most gruelling fundraising efforts he has experienced, and rolling them all into one, to create a ‘fi ve day, fi ve challenge’ event. The team of 18, made up of past loyal

participants, will set off on 12th June to climb Scafell Pike, the highest mountain in England. Day two will see the group complete a 50 mile off road cycle, day three is a 26 mile marathon walk/run along the coastal path of Dorset, day four it’s back on the bikes for a 75 mile road ride fi nishing up on day fi ve, 16th June, with a 25 mile paddle down the Thames where they will be greeted by friends and family in Richmond. Tony comments, “This really is going to

be the toughest challenge yet and I am immensely grateful to Conveyancing Data Services for their generous contribution

towards this. Their donation will go towards ensuring we have all the right equipment, transport and accommodation meaning that every penny raised from the event will go straight to the charity and not towards cost.” Mike Richards, Chairman of main

sponsor Conveyancing Data Services comments “This really is an incredible challenge for a worthy cause and we are pleased to be able to support Tony and his team by sponsoring the event. We wish them all the very best of luck.” http://www.justgiving.com/TAddinall

no one comes back the same person who went away. So many men and woman have sacrifi ced their mental health and with it the lives they knew prior to active service. That’s why I am so keen to support such a worthwhile charity.” The walk is between 25th – 31st August.

Caroline is hoping to raise £5,000 for Combat Stress. www.justgiving.com/feettoremember
