BANG THE DRUM
Welcome to T
hank you so much to everyone who joined us at the PROPERTYdrum National Conference, Expo and B2B Awards on 1st May! We were absolutely delighted that so many of our readers across the country decided it was worth taking time out from their businesses to come into London for the day – and the evening!
400 delegates, exhibitors, speakers and panellists enjoyed the luxurious Lancaster hotel
It was a real pleasure to meet so many of you at the Conference, thank you for coming!
during the day and 250 came to the inaugural PROPERTYdrum B2B Awards in the evening. It was a very long day for many of us, but the feedback has been brilliant and while we all worked very hard to make it a success, the real pleasure is hearing that everyone enjoyed it. We have reports and photos in this issue so those who couldn’t be there can see what they missed! Make sure you come next year, we have some very exciting plans to build on this year’s great event. Meanwhile, there has been a fair bit going on
in the property world, first, the OFT has given the green light for the DPG/Zoopla merger, which has caused some strong rumbles of concern amongst agents as they wait to see how it will impact their businesses.
Second, there has been more detail/amendment and, some would say, excessive fuss about
changes to EPC rules; we have the latest news in this magazine – although it may change again, who knows? And third, we have seen evidence of the public’s dissatisfaction with our political regime at the London and local elections, raising the spectre of another battle for power at the next general election as the medicine being administered is hard to swallow. Where do we go from here? Ian Wilson, MD at Martin & Co. writes that there is a possibility that if Labour should regain No.10, we may see a return to Rent Controls – a worrying thought for the PRS. What do you think? Please send me YOUR views!
