Only a few minutes drive from Dunblane is the charming former mill village of Ashfi eld. Set amid rolling fi elds on the banks of the beautiful Allan water, this village is a hidden gem of tranquility and stunning views.

Scot Reid fi rst came to the village as a boy, with his grandfather, a keen fi sherman ‘we would visit my great aunt and uncle who lived in the village on our way to spend a summers day fl y fi shing, between Keeper’s pool and the railway bridge. Even as a little boy Ashfi eld shone out as a special place, a real haven’.

When Scot saw a fl at for sale in Ashfi eld

in 1995 he had to view it. ‘As soon as I set foot inside, I knew that it was the place for me’. Over the years Scot has lavished care and attention on the property, from hand sanding the original Victorian fl oor boards to re-instating a solid fuel fi re place with wood burning stove. Every aspect of the home has been restored or renewed.

In 2002 Scot’s fi ancée moved up from Yorkshire. ‘I couldn’t believe that I had arrived in such a lovely place!’ Says Jennifer, an artist, she could instantly see the beauty of the village. ‘The fl at has side views of Sheriff muir, which I couldn’t stop painting in it’s diff erent lights and moods’.

Over the next twelve years the creative pair have developed lovely cottage gardens to front and back and built a fully insulated garden room attached to the shed.

A new career in Dundee has made it necessary for the couple to put their cherished fl at on the market with local solicitors McLean And Stewart.

‘I feel very fortunate to have spent nearly twenty years in such an amazing place as Ashfi eld’ says Scot ‘but it is time for new owners to enjoy all that the village and area off ers.’

The one bedroomed ground fl oor fl at is
