Careers in Engineering IN THE MODERN WORLD, ENGINEERING IS EVERYWHERE!

Do you enjoy solving problems? Do you like getting things to work? Do you enjoy being creative and working in a practical way? If so, Engineering might be for you!

There is a wide range of careers in engineering, from aerospace to product packaging:

ENGINEER YOUR FUTURE! WHAT DOES THE INDUSTRY NEED?

From the moment you wake up, throughout the day and even in your sleep, engineering is all around you. Without engineers, you wouldn’t have mobile phones, MP3 players or even the internet. The modern world we live in is full of engineering – from turning on the tap to stepping on the train or bus, engineering is everywhere!

Did you know that one and a half million people are employed in the engineering industry in the UK alone, and another two and a half million use engineering skills in their jobs?

l SEBASTIAN VETTEL DOES RED BULL!

The Red Bull Soapbox Race is an international event in which amateur drivers race their own designed and engineered soapboxes down a track in front of crowds of people cheering them on. Although non-motorised, these hand-made machines need to be carefully designed, from size and shape to wheels and aerodynamics, to make it down the obstacle course in one piece! The allure of these mad carts has even tempted F1 driver Sebastion Vettel to have a go!

l More women! Only around 3% of Chartered Engineers are women – lower than the percentage of female students graduating in an engineering-related subject.
