Charity Coast to coast for good cause Kommando Group travelled Scotland to highlight smoke dangers
Field and experiential marketing specialist Kommando Group has been working with the Scottish Government to bring to life its campaign to raise awareness of the dangers of second- hand smoke. Scotland recently became
the first country in the world to set a target of reducing the proportion of children exposed to second-hand smoke from 12 per cent to 6 per cent. As part of a recently concluded social marketing campaign, Kommando managed a 42-date national
Honour
Chairman of national trade body awarded Eminent Fellowship
The chairman of a national trade body has been presented with a rare honour for his work in the building preservation industry. Les Meikle, Chairman of the
Property Care Association (PCA), has been made a Fellow of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors, becoming one of very few outside its traditional membership to achieve this recognition. The honour is also a rich reward for his long and unstinting support of the Scottish business community. Les whose own business – Wise
Property Care – has branches all over the country, has been Regional Chairman of the PCA for more than 20 years and National Chairman for two years. He was nominated for
field marketing campaign which took the second-hand smoke message to towns and local communities across Scotland. Kommando's team invited
the public to step into a living room which looked completely smoke-free, but then filled with computer-generated chemicals when viewed through a tablet. Through the screen, the public were also able to see the harmful effects these chemicals can have on children's lung health as the second-hand smoke lingers.
A team of six Colliers International Scotland staff joined 40 colleagues from across the United Kingdom, taking on a gruelling 180-mile Way of the Roses challenge, from Morecambe to Bridlington. The group cycled for three days,
from coast to coast, across the breadth of England. Reaching top speeds of more than 40 miles per hour, some of the riders 'climbed' the equivalent of three Munros in one day.
Alistair Letham (Edinburgh) joined Glasgow-based colleagues Louise Daly, Jonathan McConnell, Ian Boxall, Richard Whitfield and John Duffy, who have raised nearly £7,000 between them. The total amount raised for this
eighth Colliers International charity cycle challenge in aid of Cancer Research UK and The North West Children’s Support Group is set to reach more than £25,000.
Tom Barclay of RICS Scotland presented Les Meikle with his diploma
Fellowship by Professor James Sommerville FRICS, of Glasgow Caledonian University. Les also plays a key role in
corporate life in Scotland and has a particular interest in supporting business enterprise.
