SABOS are delighted to announce the following shows for 2015. This season the Society will be presenting two very diff erent shows, both of which have only recently become available for amateur musical societies to perform.
In March we will perform The Drowsy Chaperone for fi ve performances opening on Wednesday 18th March through to Saturday 21st March inclusive with a matinee on Saturday 21st March.
If you’ve ever sat in a darkened theatre and thought - please let this be good - this is the show for you!
It begins when a die-hard musicals fan plays his favourite
cast album on his record player and ‘The Drowsy Chaperone’ literally bursts into life in his living room. It tells the tale of Broadway starlet, Janet, on the eve of her wedding. Mix in a love struck groom, a desperate theatre producer, a misguided Don Juan and an intoxicated Chaperone and you have a mad-cap show fi lled with catchy tunes, sparkling humour and hilarious characters. ‘SABOS brings you this theatre gem direct from Broadway. ‘
Our second show in 2015 will be the stage version of Irving Berlin’s White Christmas. We will open on Tuesday 27th October through to Saturday 31st October with matinees on Wednesday 28th October and Saturday 31st October.
The stage adaptation stays largely faithful to the fi lm with the memorable songs penned by Irving Berlin: Sisters, Happy Holiday, I’ve Got My Love To Keep Me Warm, I Love A Piano and of course White Christmas which the version sung by Bing Crosby became the best-selling single of all time.
Both shows will be staged at the macrobert Theatre, University of Stirling and will be artistically and musically directed by Andrew S Nicol one of Scotland’s leading musical directors and the show will be choreographed by Lynne Bustard who has a wealth of professional experience and is currently a tutor on the Musical Theatre Course at the Dance School of Scotland.
Rehearsals for The Drowsy Chaperone will commence on the 10th of September and late April for White Christmas. We are urgently looking for new members both singers and dancers to join us for both shows and if you are interested and require an application form and more information.
