THE DUNBLANE CENTRE
THE GIFT THAT KEEPS GROWING Edited by Mick North, Pam Ross and Nora Gilfi llan.
A book to celebrate The Centre’s Tenth Anniversary. To be published by Jamieson and Munro, September 2014, £10.00. It will be available from 18:00 on Sunday 7 September at the Dunblane Centre, or can be pre-ordered now.
September 2014 marks the Tenth Anniversary of the Dunblane Centre.
The book tells the story of how this unique facility
grew from Dunblane’s darkest day on 13 March 1996. It is a story which shows how the support received from around the globe, when combined with the dedication, enthusiasm and vision of so many in Dunblane, created an inspiring legacy.
The history, the activities and the future of The Centre are described, a testament to how one community, stunned by tragedy, ensured a positive future. All profi ts from its sale will help support The Centre which operates as a charity administered by the Dunblane Youth and Sports Centre Trust.
The book includes a Foreword by Andy Murray and an introductory chapter from Lord George Robertson and Lord Michael Forsyth, two of The Centre’s patrons. Other chapters have been contributed by the editors and others with personal involvement in the development and life of The Centre.
All three editors had a personal involvement in the events of March 1996 and have been actively involved with The Centre. Mick North’s daughter Sophie and Pam Ross’s daughter Joanna were both victims at Dunblane Primary School in March 1996. Nora Gilfi llan was on the Dunblane Primary School Board in 1996, was at the heart of plans for a Youth Project, was The Centre Project Coordinator and has served as a trustee. All three continue to be involved.
