Have an evening out with a diff erence!


Find out more about our local bats, starting with a short talk in the library followed by a sunset saunter to see and hear bats.


Use a bat detector to listen in to the secret songs of bats, hear lovesick males serenading


females and also hungry


bats making rude “raspberries” as they hunt for insects. Afterwards impress your friends and family by identifying bats as they fl y .


The Bats of Dunblane (a talk and walk)


Monday 29th Sept 2014


The evening will start with a short talk in the library (about 40 minutes) about bats which will be followed by a walk. The talk will be given and the walk will be led by Anne Youngman, Scottish Offi cer for the Bat Conservation Trust.


Booking Essential as numbers limited to 20. Children welcome but must bring a responsible adult.


If the weather is poor (cold, wet, windy) the walk may be cancelled. (But the talk can go ahead). Come dressed for the Scottish weather


(be prepared for


anything!). Suitable sturdy shoes and warm layers recommended. We will be walking on good paths and a distance of less than a mile.


There is no charge for the event but donations to BCT are welcome .

Help us celebrate Roald Dahl’s birthday and the 50th anniversary of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory at our scrumdiddlyumptious Roald Dahl day party!


This chocolate-fuelled event will be packed with


stories, games and crafts, and of


course…sweet treats! We will be joined by Scottish author Matthew Fitt who has already translated many famous titles into Scots including two of Roald Dahl’s: The Eejits and George’s Mingin’ Medicine.

Laura Marney is the author of the best- selling novels; No wonder I take a drink, Nobody loves a Ginger Baby, Only Strange people go to Church and My Best Friend has Issues.


Her latest release For Faughie’s Sake, is the long awaited sequel to No Wonder I Take a Drink. She writes stories and plays for radio and is a part time lecturer at Glasgow University on the Creative Writing Programme.
