Emma’s Story Kindly provided by Graeme
at Shapesmart Personal Training
After coming back from holiday in August 2013 and looking at my photos I knew I really needed to lose weight. I had been gradually putting on weight over the past few years due to poor diet, takeaways and no exercise. At this time I had a year until my wedding, which was an incentive for me to lose weight and gave me some motivation to do so.
Doing absolutely no exercise I was very unfit and the thought of exercise made me tired. Graeme kindly offered to train me after consultation doing hourly sessions once a week to start with. Before my first session I was apprehensive and didn’t believe I would last the full hour, however, I did and I felt amazing after it. The next day I was stiff in places I didn’t even know was possible but I was glad, as it proved I had worked my muscles hard, which was satisfying. Graeme was very understanding that
I was apprehensive and offered constant reassurance and support.
After about 4 weeks I noticed I was finding the sessions easier, my fitness improving and I was losing weight. At first I was following a healthy diet which consisted of 3 meals a day. Graeme then constructed a nutrition plan for me which was tailored specifically for me, taking into account my basal metabolic rate. With his nutrition plan I was eating 5 small high protein meals a day so rarely felt hungry. I feel this nutrition plan was almost like a training program for my appetite, it removed cravings and made my body realise when it needed food rather than when I wanted to eat.
Although the personal training sessions were intense I really started to enjoy them and loved the feeling of my clothes becoming far too big.

Graeme was always very supportive and more than happy to answer any questions I had and to give me advice when I needed it. I really enjoyed the outdoor training as it was spacious and cooler than working out indoors. Graeme constantly encouraged me to challenge myself and raised the intensity of the sessions as I improved.
Starting training with Graeme has had a huge impact on my life and I will be eternally grateful to him for his hard work. My confidence has improved massively, I really have not felt better about myself than I do now! Before starting personal training I felt self
conscious, constantly lethargic, which resulted in really low energy levels. Regular exercise has improved my mood, helped me sleep better and increased my energy levels. My fitness level has improved massively and things like walking up a couple of flights of stairs no longer leaves me breathless. I can now run for 30 minutes or longer compared to the 30 seconds (no exaggeration) prior to PT.
I have lost 4 stone In total through Graeme’s nutrition plan, personal training sessions and also independent gym sessions. It has been the best decision I have made to lose weight and I am so thankful to Graeme for helping me do so. If you want to lose weight, tone up or even just raise your fitness level, I highly recommend you do personal
training
with Graeme! The results he helps you to achieve are so worth it!
