FOREWORD

FOREWORD BY A

RAF ASSOCIATION SECRETARY GENERAL NICK BUNTING

s a relatively recent arrival into the RAF Association, I have been struck both by the range and quality of work undertaken by the RAF Families Federation on behalf

of all RAF personnel and their families, and by the access enjoyed by the Federation to the most senior levels of the RAF and the MoD.

The welfare of the RAF family, both serving and veteran, is at the heart of the Association’s mission and the welfare services provided to serving personnel and their families are developed and influenced in part by the RAF Families Federation’s evidence and surveys. So the evidence provided by you is used not only to help shape and influence policy and identify issues and trends within the RAF and MoD but it also helps the Association to decide where to concentrate its welfare efforts too – be it, for example, financial support for Contact Houses at RAF stations, where separated parents and their children can spend quality time together in homely surroundings, or assistance with employment advice for those transitioning out of the Service.

So, I would encourage all serving personnel and their families to respond to the work that the RAF Families Federation team is undertaking. This is a chance for your voice and your views to be heard, recorded and used to influence the debate on issues affecting the lives of service personnel and families. Please do continue to provide evidence of your concerns so that both the Federation and the RAF Association together can strive to best support all serving personnel and their family members.

The RAF Association is delighted to have been awarded the new contract to parent the RAF Families Federation for a further seven years. I look forward to working with the Federation in the future to maintain and further build on the excellent relationship established in the first seven years of the Federation’s life.

Why Should YOU Contact the Federation? T

he RAF Families Federation represents the concerns of RAF personnel and their family members on the

issues that affect them as part of a RAF family.

Your views and concerns are put in front of senior RAF and MoD staffs and direct to Ministers.

The Federation is also invited to sit on steering groups where the views of RAF family members are sought. In these ways the Federation can influence change, where it is needed, for the better.

So whether you’re in uniform yourself or a spouse, a partner, a parent, a child or a sibling of a member of the RAF, the Federation is here to act on your behalf.

If you have something you wish to bring to the Federation’s attention, please call and speak to one of the team on 01780 781650 or email: enquiries@raf-ff.org.uk

We operate entirely outside the RAF chain of command, so we can always promise an independent and confidential service. Please remember it is your views that are asked for, not ours! 
