The proposed changes to RAF Commissions and engagements are summarised as follows:


Offers of Alignment


The RAF will shortly begin making offers to groups of personnel to align their current engagement/ Commission with the new structures that will be introduced from 1 Apr 15 as a key element of the New Employment Model (NEM).


The RAF will begin by making offers of alignment to eligible personnel serving on a 9-year engagement or a Short Service Commission, providing them with the opportunity to complete 12 years service.


The offers of alignment to 12 years will be made from 15 May 14 onwards. The Legal and Chaplain branches will continue to be initially engaged on a 6-year SSC and not be considered for alignment offers.


Other groups of personnel are also expected to be eligible for offers of alignment, once the necessary amendments to Statutory Legislation and TOS have been made will be made from Sep 14, and further information will be published nearer the time.


Personnel will be given 28 days from the date of receipt of their letter to accept or decline


the offer. Failure to reply within that period will be taken to be a rejection of the offer.
