COVENANT What we could learn from I

f you feel your happiness and well-being could do with a bit of a boost then a new initiative being rolled out in the East is Bounce! A free two-hour workshop, it is aimed at showing people how making some small

changes in their life can make a huge difference to their well-being and that of those they care about.

Part of the larger Well-being in the East Programme, a Big Lottery Funded portfolio of projects promoting healthy eating, physical activity and emotional well-being, Bounce! is designed to be fun, interactive and above all meaningful to those who take part in a workshop.

“We are aware that well-being means different things to different people.” Says Roz Rospopa, Bounce! Programme Director. “Bounce! helps you to identify what is important to you, and which particular areas of your life could do with a small adjustment in order to feel the benefits of this change.”

Several Bounce! workshops have been held for Armed Forces personnel and their families already and the feedback has been overwhelmingly positive. With research showing that those involved in the Armed Forces can be at an increased risk of stress and depression, Bounce! hopes to offer some pro-active strategies that can help mitigate these risks by raising individuals’ resilience to life’s challenges.

Those who have taken part in Bounce! have said they have come away with a greater understanding of their own well-being and the important role it plays in their life. A series of tools have been developed to support the workshop, primarily a Personal Plan Builder which allows participants to record their chosen change, keep a track of their progress and note down how they are feeling day to day. This will also be available in an App soon to be released on Apple and Android platforms for those wishing to keep a track of their activities on the go.

Bounce! can be delivered to established groups but a series of the workshops are also available for individuals. For those wishing to make a day of it, Bounce! Plus sessions take place at a number venues around which offer the added bonus of a Bounce! activity: anything from low-rope walking at Center Parcs to a beauty treatment at a local spa. Bounce! is completely free to those attending.

Roz adds: “Through Bounce! we hope to engage thousands of people and help them to increase their happiness and that of their family members. We are committed to delivering an inclusive, accessible and above all fun experience for all those who take part and ensure they go away with a clear idea of how the improvements they have identified can help them deal with life’s challenges in a more effective way.”
