FINISHING TOUCHES Italian
tilemaker Trend has
launched its glass mosaic Hexagonal Collection, with an
Certikin’s PoolMat motif that requires no adhesive
aggregate for a smooth, compressed surface finish. The choice of colours include a natural stone finish. Stonex is installed to a depth of 6-8mm onto concrete or screed. The surfacing has a slip resistance of 30.8 (wet) and 100.8 (dry) according to the SRT testing method. Stonex is laid with a hard elastic polyurethane binder. This binder has good resistance to diluted acids, alkaline, water together with a number of other chemical compounds and is UV resistant.
CERTIKIN LEAVES NO STONE UNTURNED
New for 2014 and in addition to their existing range of 9” and 12” precast coping, Certikin are pleased to announce the launch of their Natural Stone Coping range. Available in six different colours and textures, they are able to supply all the standard coping items such as straights, corners and Roman end kits. Certikin are also now able to offer bespoke one-off stone products. From freeform pool shapes to stone overflow grilles, a team of skilled stone masons and state of the art computerised CNC saws and machinery mean that the possibilities are endless. Certikin have also had a ‘grate’ idea with their new overflow grating which looks super smart and offers high impact strength. The high density polyethylene grating (HDPE) can be made to suit any existing or new grating channel and it comes in any depth, any width and virtually any colour. Available exclusively from Certikin, PoolMat is a high quality motif manufactured on heavy-duty vinyl with UV and chemical resistant inks which simply sits on the pool floor. The beauty of it is that no adhesives, no suction and no specialist fixing is required. It has to be the easiest way to decorate a swimming pool.
Finally Certikin offer Pacelite, a stunning
initial range of ten semi- transparent fused glass colours
and unique lining system for pools. Simple to install and highly durable, it has a tactile feel and non-slip surface. Rounded ends and features are no problem and its finished surface reveals no unsightly joints. Seven colour options are available. The product has been in use for over half a century and if maintained correctly, Pacelite will look good and potentially last for many years.
THE HEX IS BACK!
Hexagonal tiling was popular in the Victorian era and during the Arts and Crafts period, the geometric shape being favoured by designers for its pleasing symmetry. The style has since been copied in vinyl form and enjoyed a renaissance in the 60s but now the hex is back. Italian tilemaker Trend has launched its glass mosaic Hexagonal Collection, with an initial range of ten semi-transparent fused glass colours, enriched with sparkling enamels and avventurina stone. These beautiful 35mm x 30mm hexagon tiles are around 5mm thick and supplied in 326mm x 350mm sheet sizes, mounted on the company’s innovative Trend Plus installation system. Tested and ASTM certificated to be non-porous and resistant to colour fading, frost, chemical agents and thermal shock, the tiles are also inherently slip-resistant in bare feet and shoes. Made using up to 59% post-consumer recycled glass, Trend Hexagonal are semi- transparent glass mosaic tesserae and the choice of colours ranges from ice white, through turquoise and midnight blue, emerald green, bronze and deep red, to tones of grey, slate and black, the variations in shade making the surfaces agreeably irregular and dynamic.
