There is a change afoot from down under
Every 1st July the Club starts a new Rotary year when there is a handover to the incoming team and it may be a time for some things to change. This year may see bigger changes than usual as the club’s new President for 2014-15 is an Australian both by birth and inclination!!
Every President strives, during their year in offi ce, to leave their positive mark on the club. Peter Farr, this year’s choice will surely be no exception.
The Club’s purpose is summed up in the Rotary motto, which is “Service above Self”. To fulfi l these objectives, Presidents have a council to assist them, and there are a number of committees whose chairs make up the majority of the members of the Club Council. These committees organise and run the many and varied activities of the Club.
Over the next few editions of the Wire, a more detailed review of the activities of the various committees will be explained. But, in anticipation of this, these are the key areas of the club’s activities:-
1. Family and friendship within Rotary 2. Community Service 3. Vocational Service 4. Hospice Support 5. Rotary Foundation and International 6. Youth Service
This may sound is if it is all hard work and no play. This is certainly not the case. The men and women of all ages, who make up our membership, do not take themselves too seriously; they are not allowed to by the other members!!
While we raise substantial sums of money for the various causes we support, we enjoy a wide range of social and sporting activities, to suit most tastes and abilities.
If you would like to fi nd out more, contact us or better still, come along to one of our meetings – details are on our website: www.
