1. Paul Patterson of RBC, Bill MacPherson, our music and book reviewer, and I hooked up in November in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, to take in the largest boat show in the world. It covered more than three million square feet and six different locations, all connected by water taxi. It was spectacular.
2. We were fortunate enough to get invited to meet the Gretsch family at a special celebration of the 130th anniversary of Gretsch guitars, which was hosted by Class Axe guitars in Kemptville. They did an outstanding presentation of the history of Gretsch guitars, and everyone left with a Gretsch logo that was branded into a piece of wood.
3. The Ottawa International Motorcycle Show was a resounding success this year, with huge crowds. After putting on a great show, Bob Windsor and Dale ‘’Duke’’ Wright of the new Bob Seger tribute band, Rock And Roll Never Forgets, dropped into our booth.
4. We were invited to Winchester to see the sneak peek of a new documentary on the famous Inkerman Rockets. Samantha Armstrong produced this great film that every hockey fan in the Ottawa valley will want to see.
5. The “Cruise don’t Bruise’’ bike rally against violence happens Saturday September 13th
, and they’re getting a
start on fundraising by raffling off a 2014 Yamaha. Tickets are $20 each, and you can purchase yours at either Eastside Mario’s Bells Corners or at Casey’s Bar and Grill on Ogilvie Road. Roy Bartlett of Casey’s Eastside is a big supporter of this great cause and is seen here with the grand prize. Cruise don’t Bruise proceeds go to the Eastern Ottawa Resource Centre.
