Hunting and fishing Springs to life! With the kickoff to trout and turkey

seasons just around the corner, local sportsmen are chomping at the bit to get back out in the great outdoors. It was a long and bitterly cold winter

this year, and thankfully spring is generally regarded as a time of renewal and rebirth. Ice is starting to break up on our local waters and snow is disappearing in the woods. Many folks are itching to get back to nature. Spring can mean different things to

different people, from the thumping drum of a male ruffed grouse, to the peaceful call of the white-throated sparrow, to plucking those delectable wild garlic buds from the forest floor. One of my highlights each spring is my

annual trout trek into the wilds of Quebec. This year marks the 25th

Anniversary for

my Dad, brothers-in-law and me, and though camping in the north woods may not seem that fancy, it’s as close to paradise as I’ve found yet. We are snug as bugs in our old army-style tent, with Coleman cook stoves and thermal sleeping bags. Now if that ain’t heaven, I don’t know what is!
