Germanic tradition that has since made its way across the continent, the traditional


Christmas market makes for an unmissable foodie experience this festive season. With the anticipation of Christmas hanging heavy in the air, the South West hosts some of the country’s most magical markets. Celebrating a combination of traditional German treats and fantastic local products from our region’s finest producers, visit one of these Christmas markets to kick start your festive season.


BATH Location: Cathedral Green, City Centre Date: Thursday 28th November – Thursday 15th December Times: Monday – Wednesday 10am to 7pm, Thursday – Saturday 10am to 8pm, Sunday 10am to 6pm


Bath hosts more than 100 unique sellers and producers for their annual Christmas market. Spanning across the city’s main square, and beside the stunning Roman Baths, Bath Abbey is the stunning backdrop to this winter wonderland. More than 150 traditional wooden chalets line the square and surrounding streets, offering visitors an array

of unique and bespoke gifts, crafts and decorations to choose from. As the smells of Christmas fill the festive air, shoppers can enjoy warming food and drink whilst taking in the exciting atmosphere of the bustling market. Traditional German edible treats and tipples such as gingerbreads, stollen and glühwein make for an authentic experience. However, with such an extensive array of outstanding West Country producers offering fantastic local products, this is an event sure to celebrate the best of the West. To name just a few, stallholders include; Cheddar Gorge Cheese Company, Severn Cider, Bath Cake Company and Seven Hills Artisan Chocolate. 2012 saw Bath Christmas Market honoured with a Visit England award for being a ‘Quality Assured Visitor Attraction’ making for a truly magical event.

Just a stone’s throw away from Bristol’s traditional St. Nicholas Market, Broadmead shopping quarter is this year’s host to nearly 40 chalets, offering shoppers an abundance of unique gifts, local homemade goods and fair-trade produce. From the 8th November to 22nd December, visitors can enjoy a traditional German experience, made all the more magical with stunning festive decorations, a Christmas nativity pyramid, giant
