Using oven gloves, take the tray out of the oven.
Using a skewer, make a hole in the top of each shape as soon as they come out of the oven. Don’tmake the hole too close to the edge.Wiggle it around tomake the hole big enough for a ribbon.
Leave the biscuits on the baking sheet for a fewminutes and then slide themonto awire rack to cool and crisp up.
While the biscuits are cooling, put the icing sugar in a bowl. Add themilk or lemon juice and stir until glossy and smooth. We like to add lemon juice so the icing’s not too sweet.
Spoon the icing into little bowls – one for each different colour icing youwant to make. Add a different food colouring to each bowl.
When the biscuits are completely cool, start decorating. You can use a teaspoon or a small blunt knife, but actuallywet fingers work best. Add the decorations and sprinkles, gently pressing themin.
Let the icing dry completely before you thread the biscuitswith ribbon and hang themon the tree.
