CHRISTMAS DECORATION BISCUITS
Skill level: Easy peasy
These fun decorationswill look great on the tree – they even taste good, too!
400g plain flour A pinch of salt 2 tsp ground cinnamon 2 tsp ground ginger 2 tsp allspice 200g soft butter 150g icing sugar 1 tsp vanilla extract 1 egg
6 Tip it onto yourwork top and divide it into 2 equal pieces.
7 Shape each piece into an oval,wrap in greaseproof paper and chill in the fridge for 30 minutes.
8 Take the dough out of the fridge and set your oven to 170C/325F/GasMark 3. Line a baking sheetwith baking paper.

For the icing 400g icing sugar 100ml lemon juice ormilk Natural food colouring Sugar sprinkles and decorations
9 Sprinkle yourwork surfacewith a little flour. Place a piece of dough on top. Startwith your rolling pin in the middle of the dough and gently push it away fromyou. Bring the rolling pin back to themiddle and then roll it towards you. Turn the dough a bit and roll again. Continue like this until the dough is about 3mmthick (about as thick as a £1 coin).
1Mix the flour, salt, cinnamon, ginger and allspice in a bowl. Put the bowl aside – you’ll come back to it later.
2 Put the butter, sugar and vanilla in another bowl and beatwith an electricmixer until pale and creamy. (You can do this by handwith awooden spoon but you’ll need towork hard).
3 Crack in the egg and beat.
4 Tip in the flourmixture, then beat on a lowspeed until combined. Scrape down the sides of the bowl a couple of times tomake sure all the flour is mixed in.

10 Cut out your shapes using biscuit cutters or a glass.
11 Lift the shapes onto the baking sheet with a fish slice.
12 Put the baking sheet in the oven. Set the timer for 8 minutes. Don’t wander off! Keep a close eye on the biscuits as they burn
